I'm using Office XP, I don't know if I have a new security update. The exact error message is:
---------------------------
Microsoft Forms
---------------------------
This application is about to initialize ActiveX controls that might be unsafe. If you trust the source of this file, select OK and the controls will be initialized using your current workspace settings.

OK Cancel

Ok.. There are two possible solutions... The first and easiest is to manually insert a line in the registry
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VBA\Security
"LoadControlsInForms"=dword:00000001
Remember to make a copy of the reg-file before you do this.. just in case.
If this works great.. If not you have to try something else. You have to get a file from thermo called MerlinActiveX2.reg. Copy this file to the Xcalibur directory and install it. Afterwards you have to set the security settings in Word to low.
You should be able to get the file at www.thermokb.com Here you go into the chromatography section and choose technical documents. Search for Merlin and find the entry about ActiveX. Here is the file and a short explanation also.
Let me know if this solved the problem!

The first option we already tried and it didn't work. But your second option works perfectly! Thank you very much for your help.
