SRI8610 GC for CO2 Detection, using mole sieve column

Hello All.

I am currently using SRI 8610 GC for H2 Detection, using

Mole sieve 5A 80/100
Argon as Carrier gas
Oven Temp- 70 C
Injection volume - 0.5 mL

Can I still detect CO2, with the same column, while still detecting hydrogen gas.

Please Suggest!!!

Ramana

No, not possible. Replace the ms5A with ms13x or preferably a 3m porous polymer column.

best wishes,

Rod
Rod,

If I replace MS5A with MS13x, will I be able to still detect H2,N2,O2; along with CO2???

Will detection level of hydrogen changes?

Ramana

It may take a longer MS13x than a 5A to get the same separation of O2 and N2 but yes you should be able to do the same analysis.

There is usually more tailing on N2 and O2 when using a 13X rather than a 5A but it depends.

Send me you email address and I can send you chromatograms.

best wishes,

Rod,
So you are pretty sure, that MS13X will still have similar characteristics, for hydrogen separation, and hence hydrogen detection, using my system.

You can mail me at gadhamvr@nmsu.edu

Ramana
I hope you got the chromatograms of MS5A, MS13X, and Carboxen 1000 I sent you.

best wishes,

Rod
