Hi,

Well i have a problem with the LC-MS ZQ4000 which i have been using for the last two years .

1. I have injected calibrating solution which is sodium cesium iodide but no peaks was seen at the expected range . is it because the solution has decomposed or is it something else . the set up solution expiry date is 2005.

2. The masslynx while acquiring just hanged and an ERROR message with PhoenixUI.exe application path not foud . So i reinstalled the software but after that and calibrating with the above stated solution, even Acetonitrile peak at 42m/z did not appear .

Please help.
Thank you
John

Hi John

The PhoenixUI error is a tune page error, however re-installing Masslynx is possibly going to make diagnosing your problem somewhat more difficult. I would suggest that your best course of action now is to give Waters a call.

It's very unlikely that a salt solution such as CsI has decomposed to the point where you can't see anything.

Do you see anything? or just peaks at the wrong place? Try looking at a wide mass range - A calibration error will still have peaks, a more fundamental error will not show any peaks at all. Check your spray make sure you have ions actually entereing the MS. Is the cone closed? This old favourite gets everyone now and again.

THank you for your suggestion. Just want to let you know that the problem seems to be the nitrogen generator where the required flow of N2 is not obtain thea is why the peaks are not visible.
