Solubility of an API is important for several reasons.
1) Drug administration methods are largely a function of bioavailability. Bioavailability is a function of solubility.
2) For assay and other analysis methods, solutions of various concentrations of the API are prepared. These solutions are a lot easier to prepare if the API is soluble in the solvent chosen.
3) OSHA, the DEA, the EPA and others are very interested in knowing waht a given API is/isn't soluble in in the event of a spill or discharge to the sewer system.
