I'm like to determine acetamide in a sample that is only water soluble and wondered if there is a GC column that would tolerate injection of an aqueous sample or if there was another way around this ?

Aqueous injections OK on most columns, keep injection volumes small (0.5ul) because water has high expansion cooefficient, will overflow inlets.

Porous polymer packed columns and PLOT columns should work fine with aqueous samples. Other phases (packed and capillary) will tolerate water well. Just try to minimize the time the water is on column AS A LIQUID.

we use low bleed columns and never had difficulties with aqueous samples.

You can use DB-FFAP column witch are specially design for water application
