looking a guard cartridge for the diol column

Hello,

I’m looking guard cartridge for the Develosil diol analytical column (250 x 4.6 mm, 5u particle size). Could you recommend which type of cartridge will be good alternative for develosil diol column, because I could not find exact cartridges from phenomenex to connect the develosil diol column. I’m thinking it might be either C18 or RP-1 cartridges as alternative will be used on this column but I would have your advice.

The analytical conditions of the column :oops: will be below;
Develosil diol analytical column (250 x 4.6 mm, 5u particle size)
Flow rate: 1 ml/min
Binary mobile phase:
A: acetonitrile: acetic acid (98:2)
B: MeOH:H2O:acetic acid(95:3:2).
Mobile phase A (100 ~ 60%): Mobile phase B (0 ~ 40%)
pH:1- 10

Generally, the closer you can match the chemistries of the guard and analytical columns, the better off you will be. I would look for a diol cartridge (perhaps from another vendor) before trying a C18.

I agree with Tom on this one, it is generally a good idea to use the same type of stationary phase in both the column and the guard cartridge.

One suggestion as to a suitable alternative material to use in your guard cartridges is the Kromasil Diol (from Akzo Nobel). You can probably get this from a few different vendors, although if you are in the UK I believe that there is now only 1 exclusive distributor for Kromasil material in this country.

I have used DIOL guard columns from Supelco.. So you could try there also..
Kind regards

Thank you all for your attention and the kind advices! :D
