Hooray for the forum!

I'm long pass my problems with my exceptionally high baseline, thanks for everyone who helped. But now new problems have arisen.

I know it's a contamination but where? I've cleaned or replaced soon the entire machine. The problem is, that when I inject only the solvent (chloroform) I get peaks, as if I'd injected a poor sample. With a blank injection, no peaks appear.

I've replaced the needle and the inlet, cleaned the gold plate and the detector. My column is almost brand new.

Where to look next?

Specs for my setup:
- Capillary column (Restek Stabilwax DA)
- Solvent is chloroform, needle cleaning solutions chloroform and MeOH

Heikki,

It sounds like your chloroform is contaminated, or that it is leaching out something from your vial septum or your injector inlet septum.

best wishes,

Rod

I suspected as much, and changed my chloroform and the inlet septum. It could be the vial septums though...

Try hexane or dichloromethane.

Best regards.
