GC Analyses of underivatized dicarboxylic acids

Dear Friends,

I would like to hear from anyone who has experience attempting to analyze underivatized dicarboxylic acids by HT GC.

My case is such that other sample components are ideally analyzed by GC, but they also contain adipic acid. I am looking for a simple solution to this problem.

Thanks,

josebenjamin

Josebenjamin I like your optimism.

And I wish you great success.

I just don't think you will find it down this path.

But I could be wrong.

best wishes,

Rod

When analysing natural materials I have occasionally had the MS tell me that it was finding a dicarboxylic acid, but it was always either (a) wrong or (b) just an ugly lump on the baseline. That these compounds are even n the MS libraries suggests that they could be done by GC, but I really doubt that it would be worth the effort.
