I run some standards with very low concentrations of propylene oxide and I got a linear correlation of the area vs amount of p.o. (with FID-range2) According to the equation of the line the detection limit is 1,5*10^-7 g. Is this normal? or is very large number?

Tolisfoto,

Why range 2? Are you using Chemstation or some other data system and the analog out on the 5890? Also, what level of standards are you using and then are you extrapolating? FID is typically low nanogram on column detection limits for many organics.

AICMM, I don;t have any datasystem.. I used standards in the range 0.8 - 8 μg P.O and range2 because I use this range for the samples..

Are you by any chance doing split injections ? If so, what is the split ratio ?

peter I don't have split injection.. I use packed columns.. However, considering that in range2 the sensitivity of the FID is 100 times smaller than range0, I think this detection limit is normal
