How do you set up an injection delay on a Waters Alliance?

Have a Waters Alliance and Quattro micro and would like to set up an injection delay. Can't find anywhere to do it.

Hi sjmarin,

I assume you’re using Waters CDS e.g. Millennium or Empower. If yes, then just enter the desired time (in minutes) in the “injection delayâ€

Thank you for the reply. I have MassLynx software. I have a sample queue, and an inlet method with my HPLC conditions. In the sample queue, I have parameters called "inlet prerun", "inlet postrun", and "inlet switch". Does the "inlet prerun" do an injection delay?

I'm using Empower not Masslynx with the Alliance.
With Empower you have a designtated field in the "Instrument Method" where you can enter it.

@danko: I'm a bit curious about you suggestion.
Do you mean the "Next Injection delay"? This is just a "post-run" delay time without data acquisition.

As I'm writing this, I realize that sjmarin's question is not fully clear.

Sjmarin, which delay would you have? A post run delay without data acquisition (e.g. reconditioning the column) or a "real" inj delay for the correction of gradient delay time?

Hi Hollow,

Yes I meant “Next Injection Delayâ€

I would like to start my gradient, and delay injection of my sample until some time after the gradient has started.

I have also found something in MassLynx that is called "Pre-column volume". It says "enter the volume of solvent to pump through the column between the time the gradient starts and the time of injection". That sounds like what I want to do, so I'll try it.

Thanks. This software does not seem very intuitive to me and it doesn't seem easy to figure out how to do things that should be relatively simple.
