wat is method optimization ? y do we optimize a metod can a method also be optimized in GC?

In laymans terms I would define method optimization as a compromise between chromatographic resolution and analysis time (i.e. the mimimum analysis time in which you can achieve nearly base line separation of your compounds)... Of course you can optimize a method in GC, HPLC, CE etc...

In general terms, optimization = finding the best conditions for an analysis. As Kostas pointed out, "best" typically involves a compromise among characteristics like resolution, run time, detection limit, and so on.
Any analytical technique can be optimized for each particular analysis.
In many cases, it is easier to use "one size fits all", so long as the results are adequate to meet your needs.
