Please recommend a column for high-temperature analysis.

Discussions about GC and other "gas phase" separation techniques.

I found VF-5ht (Varian) and DB-5ht (Agilent). Both are for analysis up to 400 °C. Any one has experiences with them? Which one is better (lower bleed, more robust)?

Any other supplier?

You should also check out

1. SGE's column with the high temperature polyimide coating. It stays flexible at the higher temperatures that make other coating brittle and darken in color. Bleed at 380°C was low.

2. Restek has a Carborane column which has a very high operating temperature. Bleed at 380°C was low.

I have also seen low bleed for the Varian column at 380°C.

All of these products are good products and should give you good performance.

best wishes,

Rod

Hi Ava,

I used to work for Chrompack Int ( now Varian) . At that time they supplied SIM Dist columns, with special outside coating for high temperature work , these columns performed well ... and with low bleed

what kind of analysis you want to perform with these columns ?

regards

philippe

It is for non-polar aromatic compounds with MW of around 1000. Detector is MSD.

I tried LC/MSD and got bad separation and no MSD signals.
