Dear all:
I'm about to purchase a new GC with ECD and NPD for pesticides analysis in sea water, and a FID for Petroleum determinations. Please advise if I could run into problems by trying to run these different types of samples on the same equipment.

First you need to check your new GC accepts three detector installed at the same time. Secondly what Hydrocarbons ? Running SIMDIS to high temperature is a problem as your Hydrocarbon column will need to go to a higher temperature than the maximum on the Pesticides column.

3 different detectors? I wonder how much more a MSD would cost. With that, you could run pretty much anything...

Thanks a lot. This gives me a better basis before placing the PO.

Other than not using chlorinated solvents, which both the NPD and ECD would not like, I don't see any issues with the three detectors you have chosen.

Best regards.
