PID reading of 350 - 375 (gasoline?)

A recent test for potential liquifaction on my property resulted in a PID test because of the smell of gasoline(?) coming from one of the boring holes. The PID reading was 350-375 PPM.

Question - is this a positive test for gasoline? Is the test result in the "Serious" category?

Thanks.

Steve4446,

Not necessarily, but your nose is leading the way. PID will respond to a large number of constituents (gasoline, solvents, and other organics) but the fact that your nose smelled gasoline is a bad sign. The only definitive way to determine if there is gasoline is to send samples to an environmental laboratory for a analysis.

Best regards.
