Does anyone use any of the genevac ez range of evaporators?
What do you use it for and how does it perform?
Does it run completely unattended?

we use it for sample evaporation in our bioanalytical lab. It is nice. we are using 96WP.

I researched both the Thermo Electron and Genevac evaporators extensively, as I was in charge of purchasing one for our facility. I finally settled on the Genevac EZ-2 Plus. We just ordered it this week and I'm looking forward to getting it. It is completely automated - check out the brochure.

Hi there, Yes we have the EZ-2 in our lab already. We generally use it to evaporate chloroform extracts down to dryness. The EZ-2 is meant to be fully automated and I guess it is kind-of. We've noticed though if you have the heat setting set at off and the low bp setting on (which we need for solvent evaporation) it just goes on for much longer than you actually need even though the samples may be dry after about half an hour.

We have started to just know the time that our samples take to dry and go by that. As a unit it is very "EZ" to use and compact too. Good drying times are a bonus but fully automated? - not sure. I guess it depends on what you are using it for.
