Hi,
I would like to know which column is the best to use(packed column if possible) and which lenght to separate Neon from H2 in Helium balance.

thank you

dany
On a 6m Carboxen 1000 1/8" OD 60/80 mesh column at 40°C with 30 mL/min carrier of helium . . .

the retention time of Neon is 1.56 min. and is easily resolved from the other gases (except Helium, it elutes about six seconds before Neon) .

Hydrogen elutes at 2.04 min. Oxygen elutes at 7.23 min. Nitrogen elutes at 7.81 min. Carbon Monoxide elutes at 11.17 min.

Methane elutes much later and Carbon Dioxide elutes sometime next week unless you raise the oven temperature. One can elute C2 and even C3 hydrocarbons from this column.

Email me for chromatograms, Deny.

best wishes,
