Hi,
Let me know which column is the best for a good separation of Krypton and Nitrogen in Helium.
I use a Packed Mol. Sieve 5A 100/120 12' long and it works not so bad, but I would like to know if something better is available.

thank you

dany

if you have already the selectivity, in terms of resolution and efficiency you can use a PLOT (porous layer open tubular) Mol Sieve column.

Yes, Dany,

A 1-2 ft Supelco Carboxen 1000 1/8" packed column will work wonders.

A Supelco PLOT Carboxen 1006 will also work well but cost a lot more money.

Send me your email address and I can send you a chromatogram of a 2 ft column.

best wishes,

Dany,

Here are the specifics:

The separation of nitrogen and krypton is achieved on a 2ft Carboxen 1000 60/80 mesh column that is only 2 ft in length at 40°C: neon 0.092 minutes, nitrogen 0.390 minutes, krypton 1.847 minutes.

I also have an application that separates hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and krypton in less than two minutes.

best wishes,
