Column insertion Tekmar / HP5890

In our purge and trap analysis we had to change the capillary pre-column interface that leads from our Tekmar 3100 to our HP5890+ GC. We use a Varian Deactivated liner, 4mm Gooseneck Split/Splitless.
The persons who did this analysis before don't work at our laboratory anymore and cannot be reached at this moment, therefore some questions:
- how far should we insert the analytical .32 column into our liner?
- how far should the capillary pre-column interface be inserted into the liner?
- what problems should we expect when changing the diameter of the capillary pre-column interface (it's now a .32 uncoated column which we don't have in stock, we do have .53 uncoated column but we expect problems)?
Thanks, Kevin
