how to dry a solvent over anhydrous sodium sulphate

is anyone have any idea how to dry a solvent over anhydrous sodium sulphate before dilution for hplc analysis.....

Hi,

Basically you just add the sodium sulphate to your solvent. If there is any water present it will clump together. How much to add depends on how much water is present. Start off with 2g per 100mls. Add it until it no longer clumps together. At that stage you may get some free floating fine powder (known as fines) so allow to settle and decant carefully.
