Anybody in here run Methods 504.1 or 8011?

Hello People-

I need to start running my EDB/DBCP samples with surrogate, and I'm not sure what to use. I haven't found anything online - just that a surrogate needs to be run. I've tried 1,3-dichlorobenzene, but didn't get great recovery consistency on my samples (anywhere from 40% to 90%). The calibration for this surrogate worked okay though.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

We run 504.1 with TCMX and DCB. The same used for pest/pcb's. They both elute later than the targets analytes and are very stable.

We run 504.1 with TCMX and DCB.
What concentrations for TCMX and DCB seem to work well?

My calibration points for 504.1 are

0.20 ppb
0.15 ppb
0.10 ppb
0.04 ppb
0.02 ppb

I calibrated with 1,3-Dichlorobenzene as my surrogate at the above levels and it seemed to work okay. I'm not against trying TCMX and DCB.

What kind of columns are you using? I use Restek CLPesticides (I and II) columns.

Thanks.

We use the same columns, 0.53mm id. Our curve is:

0.2ppb
0.1ppb
0.05ppb
0.02ppb
0.01ppb

The surrogate compounds are 4ppb.
Rarely any problems with recovery.

What levels do you calibrate for the surrogates?

We calibrate using the average response of 4ppb surrogates in all curve points.

Cool. Thanks!
