GC-NPD

I was using the GC-NPD for testing of acrolein samples. However, the chromatogram of the blank is one with the solvent peak and another peak that resembles a big "leap" which leads to drifting of the baseline.
I had seen past examples of the similar samples ran by other analyst using the same method and same GC-NPD yet with beautiful symmetric peaks shown on the chromatogram.
I am unsure if the problem I have is due to the sensitivity of the NPD detector or due to my bad sample preparation....
I will really appreciate it if someone can have some idea regarding this.
Thank you.
