No increase in oven temperature

I am a novice in Gas Chromatography. I got problems with the old-model GC that I am using because the it cannot attain the set Initial Temperature. I set the temperature at 90 C but it can only attain 60C and stable at around this temperature. I tried to start running the equipment but there is no change in the initial temperature. May I know what are probable causes? Thank you

There are dozens of potential causes:
check the fuses, if they are OK the very best advice that I can give is to contact the local agents for the company that made the GC.

Temperature rises from 25 C up to 60 C only. It doesnt reach the initiaal temperature of 90 C that I set...

Rick means to check the back of the unit (feel with your hand for warm air exiting) to see if any heated air is exiting out a flap that doesn't close, or doesn't close all the way. You don't list what brand/model of GC but some have this as a weak spot; Agilent GCs are excellent, but the oven flapper motor sometimes just wears out, and once I had to rivet one of the flaps back onto the rod. I doubt that you could reach 60C (unless it takes a long time) just from the heat of the inlet and detector zones, so I'll assume that your oven-heating resistor wire is OK (an either "good" or "bad" situation). Did you check that 60C with a thermometer or thermocouple as well, to make sure the oven sensor is operating correctly? If all that stuff looks good, you may need to explore an electronic problem (service call). Since you're new, isn't there anyone there with any hands-on experience? Also - all posters - please list brand and model of equipment for issues like this - we have no instrument sponsers here - we just share our experiences and knowledge.

I am using the old model HITACHI 663-50. The oven door was not properly closed. I have to exert extra force to finally close it. In short warm air was exiting so that I was not able to attain the desired temperature.
