precolumn frit- hplc

Is it necesary to have a frit in inlet end fitting of precolumn (FOR SOLVENT) which is between pump and injector?

(precolumn is PE scavenger cartridge column C-18-10 um)

I am quite new in hplc, so i need some help.

The frit serves two purposes: it is a filter and it holds the material in the column. You may not need the frit to be a filter but you will need it to keep the packing in place.

As to a good source of information for HPLC, well just check the postings in this forum, especially those for the Student section. Also, don't forget to look up (at the top of the forum page); check out the 'FAQ' link at the top.
