Good day;

I would just like to get some opinions. What would be more advisable to work with when calibrating a GRO(Headspace analysis for gasoline range organics in water) method on a GC-MS system using a 5% column, Certified reference material or gasoline dissolved in propanol?

Thanks
Gugu

As a general rule in headspace analysis the matrix for the standards has to be the same as for the samples.

I have used both types of standards when using purge and trap. The problem will be with using Propanol since it will elute after your first analytes in the GRO. For GC/MS it is best to dissolve your standards in Methanol since it does not show up when you are scanning from 35-300 mass.
