Dear Friends,

Our lab is about to buy an IT LC/MS system. We are aware that some applications will have limitation or not be possible in the IT instrument. We would like to hear your comments on the applications best suited to IT work compared to the capabilities of TOF or SQ instrumentation.

Thanks,

josebenjamin

Hi,

Ion Trap and Single Quad or TOF all have different usage.
Dependent on what your application. However, I have one Website
for you to look and may be help to get some info on all different
MS and there expertise. For example, IT MS most people use for protein
peptide identification, Triple Quads use for Drug development PK type
Quanatiation and TOF is use for large molecular and more precise
mass and TOF is no scanning involve therefore acquiration rate is super
fast. Now, I know ABI have QTrap instrument, meaning it can be use both
Triplet Quand or Trap which is quite nice. Hopefully it help.
