what are the basic steps to manually tuning an MSD? i am finding my peak abundances and shapes to be very abnormal. the peak widths are all over the place and i don't know how to correct for this. any suggestions?

are you working with GC or LC/MS??
In understand that you are using LC/MS... ESI or APCI??

Hi,
If you are using Agilent GCMSD, you can look into
http://www.sclcms.com under the instrument trouble shooting
then go to see Agilent section.
