Varian 8200 Autosampler Problem

I am getting a "low air pressure" error on the 8200 autosampler. I don't think the problem is the air pressure, however. Any thoughts? I also get a "valve driver error" on occasion.

One question I have is interfacing the tubing with the syringe. There is a little screw cap that tightens around the tubing but I don't find it holds it snugly. Is there supposed to be a washer that fits inside the cap? Or should I just cut some of the tubing and see if I can tighten it after cutting?

Thanks,
Aaron

"Valve driver" should be an electric component which controls the valve.

I have an 8200 sitting in my lab (harvested for parts). I'll check if it has a pressure switch but AFAIK it doesn't have one but you can check yourself:
Just open the case (two screws on top, two on the buttom (where the power switch resides)) and look at the PCB.

If there is a black box on the PCB which is attached to a PTFE tubing you have your pressure switch.

All the best,

I haven't had a pressure error message due to that little screw cap, but I have had solvent rinse leaks. There is no washer, but I have found that the tubing tends to 'stretch' after a while.

Cutting off 1/2 cm or so should snug that up for you.

As to the low pressure, have you tried a leak check on the air line going into the back of the 8200?
