I´m looking for some information about mobile phase compatibility for IC anion columns, I have found that some silica based IC columns are not compatibles with Methanol or Acetonitrile (Vydac or Dionex for example) while others (alltech) can run up to 100% organic.
Is this due to silica modifications?

I doubt that the Dionex IC columns are silica based. Solvent compatibility depends on how the ion-exchanger groups are attached to the core particle. These groups can be attached covalently (e.g.Hamilton PRP-X100) or a ion-exchange latex is attached to a sulfonated core particle through electrostatic interaction (most Dionex columns).
It is possible to strip the latex from the substrate. This is not possible with covalently attached ion-exchange groups.

Always refer to the column manual for solvent compatibilty information.
