hardware detection failure to computer

Hi all,
It's been a long time coming but the computer running our old IC(a Metrohm 761 compact IC) finally called it and stopped working. I have installed the software (IC net 2.3) on a new computer and is trying to get the IC to talk to the computer. However, every time I attempt to set up a new system for the software, it keeps coming up with errors in detecting the IC interface. Can someone please offer some advice about how they would go about resolving this? Has anyone else ever experienced this situation before?
