We are getting an error message on our Shimadzu Prominence SIL-20AHT autosampler stating "ERR LPV HOME" which is caused by "low-pressure valve's rotational position incorrect positions". It is a LPV motor slip error. The stator and rotor are in good shape I think. I think the problem is a fault inside the motor assembly. Is this something I could take apart to see if the motor is perhaps stuck?

What happens is that the ceramic rotor and stator polish each other and become so well mated to each other over time that the motor can't overcome the friction to move them. This generates the error, order new parts. In the mean time, Lightly filing the surfaces of them to break that glaze a bit will sometimes buy you several more injections.

We ended up replacing the AS's PCB due to corrosion which seems to have fixed the problem. Now we are trying to recalibrate the needle position but the default shimadzu password '00000' is not working. Any ideas? Have they recently changed the default password perhaps?

If that board has a battery on it, cut power, remove battery, short battery contacts, try default password again. If that fails, talk to whoever sold you the PCB.
