HP 5710A dimensions+manual

Hi!

I've recently bought injectors, flow regulators and FID with preamp and psu from an old HP 5710A - basically, all but the oven and controls. I'm going to build a custom, DIY-style GC with these as parts, see my previous thread for details, I do have some specific questions about the 5710A I'd love to get cleared.

- What are the physical lenght between injector and FID column couplings? Is there a standard for that? If I ever want to use a packed column, it'd be nice if it fits..

- What voltage and wattage does the injector heaters run at?

- Would anyone happen to know where I could obtain the manual for it? I can't find it in HP/agilents old manual archives, or elsewhere.

Thanks in advance!

This should be what you need for the column size.

For glass columns you have to be pretty exact, if using copper or stainless steel you can bend them quite a bit to make them fit.

Great! Thanks! That was the exact measurement I needed! For some reason, the 57XX series of GC's are insanely illusive. besides the name and some pictures, and a mention in the movie 'My cousin Vinnie', I can't find any details about it!

Except that there are capillary inlet addons:

HP 18740B capillary inlet module

HP 18835B capillary inlet module

I find it strange that documentation of these older instruments hasn't gotten preserved to any extent.
