Hi All,

I want to analysis of a mixture of compounds by GC/MS. One of the compounds contains Proline moiety and the other contains secondary and primary amine functional groups.

My guestion is

Which derivatization procedure should I use ? Can I use silylation for derivatization of compounds?

Thank you for your advice.

Hi,

I have found that the t-butyldimethylsilyl derivatisation (after Woo and Chang - Journal of Chromatography, 638 (1993) 97-107) works well for proline. I use MTBSTFA+1%TBDMCS reagent in the presence of pyridine heated to 70°C for 2hrs. Hope that helps,

Ralph
