One of our sister companies is experencing an Empower issue that is quite interesting. The Waters Empower Chromatography Manager is installed in a client/server configuration. Two Alliance 2695 chromatographic systems with a 2487 dual Absorbance detector each are configured per LAC/E acquisition server and one Agilent 6890N gas chromatography instrument is configured per LAC/E.It has been observed in sporadic cases, that during processing of an acquired sample set a vial has not been injected during the acquisition process. When investigated, it was confirmed that the particular vial in question had not been injected, however a chromatogram had been produced for this vial. During the confirmation of each incident the vials in question and the standards were re-injected and in each case it was confirmed that the vial had not been injected and that the chromatogram shown for that vial corresponds to another vial.

In all instruments, the instrument or the Empower software has not recorded any malfunction error. As of today technical efforts supports the hypothesis that the potential cause of this situation might be related to the Waters Separation Module, Alliance 2695.

Please let me know if you have seen something like this, and what your resolution is.

So, is it one particular 2695 that seems to skip a vial, both of them, or the GC?

My labs have numeroous 2695s as well as an Agilent GC (with which I have been having response issues depending on the choice of esatin or serial connection).
Thanks,
DR

DR,
It appears that it is happening on multiple 2695 instruments, not on the GC.

Has Waters been of any help on this?
Thanks,
