hi everybody ,
as we knew that there is a degasser for the degassing of mobile phase in HPLC , i would like to know what is the input of a degasser and the mechanism of it.

regards,
sudhi

Most degasseurs uses vaccum along with micro-porous tubing...

The degasser passes the mobile phase through gas-permeable fluorocarbon tubing. The tubing is inside a vacuum chamber. The original designs (~1992) used macro-porous PTFE, and were susceptible to contamination, had a large internal volume (15 mL). With time, better tubing materials (Teflon AF) and vacuum control have reduced the volume (2mL) and resistance to contamination (no macro-pores). The exhaust from the vacuum contains the gasses removed from the mobile phase, plus whatever solvent can diffuse through the teflon.
