Hi all,

I am using a Thermo Trace 1300 - ISQ GC-MS system and just walked into the lab to this noise (video link: https://youtu.be/xjpdNda9rTY). It sounded like it was coming from the mass spec side. I shut the system down just in case. Not sure if it's the turbo molecular pump or if something got lose and is making a noise ?

Tech support said to check for leaks, but I don't want to turn the system on in case it's something bad. Anyone heard this before/knows what it could be ?

Thanks in advance!
Loay
If it's a leak it should make the noise with just the rough pump working.
It does sound like the turbo could be going. If you turn it on be prepared to shut it down in the middle of start up.
Hi,

It sound like the turbo pump going to crash soon. Do you observe the rough pump still have oil?

Thanks
Seet
