yes friend,
i had used it. it was dame good but may be due to cosrt factor we had very few system but otherwise it gives rsd. but the sofware was bit tedious and not user friendly

When we were looking to get our LC system we were going to get an PE setup however we could find no-one that we trusted to give us a good word about it. Our sister company in the states said that theirs was in bits more often than not, the people we used to do our external analysis said that the one they (mainly use Agilents but aquired one PE) had worked for 6 months in 5 years and that they were glad to see the back of the one they had.

And then there's TotalChrom...

I don't want this to sound like an anti-PE rant as I quite like their GC hardware and I'm sure that some people are absolutely delighted with their PE systems but I couldn't find them! In the end we followed the herd and got an Agilent.

I have used one on line with a API-300 mass spectrometer. that was 8 years ago so I guess there are new models available. The one I used, no complains in general, the syringe plugged more than I would like to see, but at the same time the autosampler was used to inject about 100 organic synthesis samples which were not the cleanest in the world...

We had one P-E HPLC system, and we retired it about 2-3 years ago, when P-E told us that it would no longer support the pump and the detector (the LC system was used with an integrator). It was in use for about 15+ years, and I used it for about 4 years. It ran as expected, without problems. But the old autosampler was replaced by a newer model before I started.

We don't use the newer models made by P-E that are controlled by PC, because our company wants to buy lower-cost models. We currently have Shimadzu and Dionex systems.

and what about that TotalChrom is it so much NOT user friendly

We currently have a number of Perkin Elmer LC's (Series 200 components with a mixture of 785 and Series 200 UV and DAD detectors). The main reason we started using them was because we were using TotalChrom and liked having instrument control.

With respect to performance, the autosampler is probably the weak point. RSD at low injection volumes is typically higher than other vendors although acceptable. The pump and UV detectors are excellent.

As far as TotalChrom, we've used it for many years and have been very happy with it. As with many things, there is good and bad. When comparing, say TotalChrom and Empower, TotalChrom has far better reporting and is also simpler to use. My suggestion would be to try and look ahead to what you'll be using the acquisition system for, several years into the future. What's important to you? Reporting, instrument control, ease of use, expandability.

All my lab is Perkin Elmer, I has worked with them for 7 years, they have very good hardware but the software is not freindly at all!!!
my personal opiniom is that this is a sftware probaly good and perfect for pharmaceuticals, Highly recomended!!!!
But when your bussines is to work with you instrument developing new methods and working with so many diferent sample this total chrom could become a real headache!!!
if you do not have to develop method, specially HPLC it would be very good for you!!

One curious thing Ihve found is that traditional PE users are very happywith their instruments and rarely change supplier... but in other hand I do not know many users buying PE for the first time.

Personally, I must admit PE is far beyond of being one of my favourites...

I think Turbochrome is well suited for routine analysis and our girl are, after some years of usage, quite clever on it. Teaching them e.g. Empower would be one of my personal nightmares. of course you have to live with compromises.
And i'am less enthusiastic about the LC Hardware. When we used it on a daily basis, with some effort it would run quite smooth, but in my opinion there are smarter and more reliable systems availible.
