I am presently using a 6" x 1/8" packed column and want to put in
a 6' x 1/4" column. Is there a specific adapter I need to make this change? Thanks
Many injection ports are 1/4" OD. To use a 1/4" OD column you merely use 1/4" graphite ferrules and nuts to install.

On the detector side it depends upon which detector you are using.

The easiest path to determining how and if you can use 1/4"OD columns is to read the manual that came with the GC or to contact the GC vendor sales representative.

One can use 1/8" to 1/4" reducing unions from Swagelock or someother vendor but that may not be advisable depending on the samples upon which you perform analyses.

best wishes,

Rod
