Hello,
Does anyone have the experience with haloperidol and have some advice on how can i improve my peaks? I've tried USP and BP methods with variations, and couldn't get symmetries greater than 0.5. Also found that tailing is "normal" with haloperidol :| . Is it true?
Thanks a lot.

It could be the quality of your column. The tailing of a basic compound like haloperidol depends on the silanol content of the packing, and you will be better off with a modern packing based on a high-purity silica such as Symmetry C18, a packing with an embedded polar group such as SymmetryShield RP18, or a hybrid packing such as XBridge C18.

Of course, it is also possible that there are some problems with the details of the method, and it would be good if you could post the details.

I get the best results so far with acetonitrile:phosphate buffer mobile phase (pH2.2) 60:40. I am using a LiChrosorb RP18 column, so you're probably right about that. Maybe i should try to lower down the pH, and use a more stable column. Thanks a lot.

Hi, you might want to try the Agilent Zorbax XDB C 18 column as well.
