Chemstation LC 3D & HP 1046A?

Discussions about HPLC, CE, TLC, SFC, and other "liquid phase" separation techniques.

Greetings,

Just wondering if anyone knows off the top of their head, if I can use a HP 1046A FLD with Chemstation LC 3D? Or do I need to use Chemstation LC version instead? We run a bunch of 1050s with LC 3D, so hoping I don't need to switch to different version of Chemstation to add in a HP 1046A.

Thanks in advance!
Your Chemstation will be fine to add 1046A detector. I believe you'll need to add an internal #35900D internal A/D board (if your computer is like Pentium 1) or external #35900E A/D box if newer than that. Each needs HPIB/GPIB and remote cable, and appropriate signal cable (believe 1046A uses a coax connection for that).

You should post what type of computer you have, what version of Windows, and what revision of Chemstation.

If yours is old and you want internal #35900D internal A/D board, I have three available and signal/GPIB cables.
So will any of the 35900 interfaces with GPIB on them work? I see some 35900C units with GPIB interfaces in them, and the price difference is significant. I also see some 35900E units that don't have GPIB, which likely wouldn't work. Is this correct?
And actually, we've ordered the 1046AX detector and it has a GPIB port on it. Do we still need the interface to use with Chemstation?

Thanks

The 1046A already has a GPIB port? Then you're way ahead of the game, don't need any 35900 A/D converter at all. That's great.

You'll need a GPIB cable and a 9-pin remote cable. Then using Configuration Editor you'd need to add the 1046A module using its GPIB address; there might be a sticker for that - likely will be HP/Agilent's default for the 1046A, or most readily can be determined from the front keypad & display.
Thanks, Looks like we got it working. Much help.
