New column storage

I have got a brand new column from Thermo (Syncronis C18). It turns out that I don't need to use it right away. So, I have still not opened the column. Is it okay if I just keep it at room temperature? Or I need to do something for it's storage?

Hello
As you haven't opened column yet it still has storage solvent inside (you will find information about storage/shipping solvent in column certificate).
You can keep box with column (or column itself) at room temperature.

It will be fine. Or since seal is unbroken, maybe you can return it.

I agree with Tomasz. It is always good to have a brand new column in the back hand, just in case.

Agree; always good for determining if the column is the issue when a problem shows up. I always had at least one back-up new column for each of our pharmaceutical assays, both HPLC and GC.

Probably more true in the lab than anywhere else - when in doubt, read the manual. Even columns come with them.
