Nitrogen purity in LC-MS/MS

Hi everybody,

Do anyone know what is the effect of N2 purity (for collision cell) in LC-MS/MS?

I used to N2 99.5% (instead of 99.999% as recommended by the vendor) without any problem. Is it mandatory to switch to higher purity or it may damage my instrument؟

Thanks

Hello

Collision cell gas requires higher purity than the gas used as drying gas.

Please see p.11 in document below:

It won't damaged instrument but if you'll have problems with your methods one of the questions could be: what is N2 purity?
