I would like to inquire about others' experience with Agilent 1100 MSD Repair Frequency. We started with a G1946A which has subsequently been upgraded to a G1946D. The issue is that we've gone through seven turbos in seven years, very expensive. Is this considered normal, or are we just "blessed"? Do you other users all have service contracts, like that's just the cost of doing business? Any experience in reliability and repair/uptime v. other vendors' units? The damn HPLC part works great.

we have an 1100 G1946D we purchased back in Apr. 2002. We've replaced both turbos, quadrople, pca analyzer board at least three times, main electronic board which related to ion optic failure, the rough pump (which could have lead to the turbos failing) and the smart card . The first 3 years we used the instrument maybe 6 months. We have gotten alot more use out of it the last year or so.

forgot to add we do have a service contract and they are able to repair the instrument when it fails, its more of faulty or defective parts.
