We use 40 ml vials with ascorbic acid provided by Thermo Fisher. Lately we have been finding styrene in most all of them. I can't find the certification that came with the current lot. As I recall EP Scientific ( now Thermo Fisher) certified these vials as containing <1.0ppb VOA's. That does not help us as we report to 0.5ppb.

Any one know if there is a vial supplier that certifies to <0.5?
We use QEC, but I have sometimes wondered about the quality. I do know that from time to time the casting is not the best, I have seen it when you can place two vials side by side, the bottoms will touch and the caps will be over 3.8" apart. We used to use Eagle Pitcher a long time ago, but switched due to QEC being much less expensive.

I have not had any problems with any target analytes for volatiles so far though and we get several different types of pre-preserved vials.
The past is there to guide us into the future, not to dwell in.
