Ionic liquids.

Discussions about HPLC, CE, TLC, SFC, and other "liquid phase" separation techniques.

Hey All,

I posted this topic 2004 already and would like to ask the same questions again, I would like to know how the techniques have evolved.

Does anyone has more experience of using ionic liquids in mobile phases in order to replace organic (acetonitrile or methanol) in RP-HPLC?
Couldn't it be considered more environmental approach for HPLC mobile phases?
I have read some articles, but the use of ionic liquids in HPLC seems to be still more of academic interest than routinely used in industry. Is this true?

Best regards,
JAM
How would they replace organic solvents in RP-LC?
