We having issues because our Hitachi HPLC systems must have the solvent waste bottle for injector rinse physically located lower than the injector. If we don’t, we have problems with the solvent flowing back into the injector contaminating the next analysis. I don’t recall this being a problem on Agilent or Waters systems. Because of this problem, we have waste bottles on the floor, which is a safety concern. We were wondering if you have any ideas.

Hi Randy,

In our lab we also use the Hitachi HPLC systems.
What we have done is through the trim beneath the counter top where the HPLC sits we drilled a hole, using flexible tubing we route the drain to a waste bottle in the cabinet below
