Split Ratio Problem Update

The input from CE Instruments guided me in the right course of action to clear up my split ratio problem on my Clarus 500. After talking with the PE serviceman and asking if a blocked filter or trap of some sort could be the cause of the lack of peak height (and area) change with vastly different split ratios, he said this is possible but he had only seen it with very viscous type samples. I told him I am running milk fat samples exclusively and he agreed that a saturated charcoal trap near the injector is probably my problem. I changed the charcoal in the filter and, voila, I have controllable split ratios again. Thank you to all who gave their input and I hope this update helps other novice GCers like myself.

Thanks for the update to the Forum.

Your consideration is appreciated. Many who get help from the Forum never report back their success or failure.

The fact you took the time shows respect and good manners. Thank you.
