Agilent 1100 Pump connection problem

Hi,

We have Agilent 1100 system and include quaternary pump. Today the system shows red lights on the all modules and we closed and opened all modules. After that, chemstation don't see any pump (actually WAX pasife) and indicate power failure message. But we can see green light on the power button and cannot see any light on the right corner of the pump. We checked CAN cables and there is no problem for the connections and we tried to connect to dedector directly. But it is not working.

Do you know that how we can fix this problem?

We can connect the pump with RS232 cable to the dedector? Maybe CAN inputs has a problem on the pump?

Thanks for your support,
Are you connected to the computer by LAN?(ethernet cable)

If the 1100 receives the IP address from the computer and the bootP program is not running and the 1100 loses power, it will restart but not have a valid IP address and give a similar problem.
The past is there to guide us into the future, not to dwell in.
Yes I connected the computer LAN it was working and suddenly I saw red lights on the all modules and I restarted all modules and software. After that the chemstation saw other modules and they are working only pump has this problem.

I also checked IP address there is no change and I did not touched it.

HPLC IP is 192.168.254.11 and I guess all modules use same IP

I am thinking of this promblem comes from main board of pump or input points of CAN connections?

Thanks
My question is other modules and pump use different IP address?

For your information, computer connected the system via dedector unit by LAN and other modules connected via CAN
Does detector have jet direct card (LAN board), or is the LAN PORT integrated to mainboard. As it is 1100 I assume it use Jet Direct card. Take the card out from the detector and insert it in pump and connect PC trough pump, do you see any error? Can you look trough logbook for error that caused this issue?
My question is other modules and pump use different IP address
Only LAN card uses TCP/IP protocol, so this is not problem
I had a similar problem with a HP1100 and the OpenLab Chemstation software a few weeks ago. I was able to connect to the module causing the problem (the autosampler) using the LC firmware upgrade utility which confirmed that the problem was not with the module itself. You may want to try to confirm whether the module itself is the issue or whether it is something weird going on with Chemstation. I am not suggesting that you update the firmware but by trying to connect using the utility you should be able to establish if the problem is the module or whether it is the configuration or something in Chemstation.

Today, i changed only CAN cables and the system saw the pump unit again.

After i used the system 3-4 hours. I only changed run time 10 minutes instead of 15 minutes via pump control. after 10 minutes the system was closed and all units shows shutdown. again i closed and opened all units and again chemstation dont see pump unit is passive :(

do you have any idea?

Our dedector use card (LAN BOARD).

Today i opened the system and i only changed the CAN cables. The chemstation started to see pump module. I used 3-4 hours and i only changed run time via pump control. after injection completed the system shows shutdown and all modules have red lights. I closed and opened modules by manually but again the pump has same connection problem.

I found that on Agilent website, this is my problem or not? i dont understand well and how can i fix that?

KPR#:1840 Product:OpenLAB CDS ChemStation Edition M83xx C.01.03
Keyword: Reports , 1100 Control , 1200 Control , 7890A Control

One-line Description:
Instrument communication error may cause incorrect injection time stamp on subsequent run
Problem:
The first injection time of a run acquired after a permanent instrument error (power failure, communication failure or leak).
may appear as the injection time of the previously interrupted run.
Temporary Solution:
In order to prevent such inconsistent injection time stamp it is recommended to re-start the ChemStation application after a permanent communication error, network failure or instrument failure.
Fix Information:
This issue is resolved in OpenLAB CDS ChemStation C.01.03 HF08 and C.01.05 HF07.

Fixed in OpenLAB CDS ChemStation C.01.06.

This is just a thought...Is your degasser light red as well when the rest of the system shuts down? If so, is the degasser also connected via the remote cable to the pump? A faulty degasser will shut down your system if it is connected with the remote cable but error messages only indicate pump (as the degasser is not CAN cable connected to the rest of the system).

No, our degasser only connect to power. There is no any connection or remote cable between pump and degassar.
Hello

I'd recommend few things:

1.Connect pump only and monitor pressure - run method to see if error comes out. If not, it means it is not a pump
2.Connect modules one by one (detector, sampler and so on) and check which one generates an error.
3.Check firmwares for all modules - update to newest revision.
4.You can check (via CMD) online communication between LC-PC (you can run it in background for all day, if there is problem with LAN it will stop it). Perhaps there is some connection issue (network problems etc)
