Tuning problem in Agilent LC-MS

Hi all,

My Agilent LC-MS (6410) autotune is failed. After cleaning all cleanable parts (such as needle, nebulizer, capillary , ... ), the problem was not solved. After one minute passing, an error appeared and says the mass could not be tuned. All other conditions (vacuum, ... ) are good.

Any help?

Hello

Are you sure that calibrant from bottle is going to MS?

Thanks dear Tomasz

Yes, The calibrant reaches to MS and there is no problem about it.

in manual tune, can you see all the correct mass peaks? What shapes and intensities are they, compared to your last good tune?

Unfortunately, tune is not completed in autotune mode, after 2 min it's failed without any result (peaks are not shown during this time). There is the same situation in manual tune.

When " check tune" is selected, the process is done completely but m/z value and width of most peaks in the check tune report need to "adjust" and the intensity of ions is very low, so check tune is also failed.

Well, if you have checked the obvious stuff it may need cleaning further into the instrument. Or you may have an electronics issue. Could be pretty much anything.
Could you call Agilent and see if they will do a Webex remote session? They will control/check your instrument remotely and can likely tell you what the problem may be.

Did you clean the nebulizer needle or replace it with a new one? If you take the nebulizer out of the chamber and hold a light behind it, is it a nice even, steady spray?
