Gradient system from 0% to 100% B over 95 minutes. Low organinc to high organic Mobile phase progression.

Data was collected for 110 min. The gradient baseline drift is not excessive. The dwell time is about 3 min so at 98 min the baseline comes down.

What would cause a nice sharp peak to appear at 107 min. It is seen in the standard and sample but not the blank.

The analyst in charge of the system is wondering if its a late eluting impurity. My response was a 99% no, not possible.

Why would a late eluting (non-polar) peak that has retained that long wait until the conditions are as they were in the beggining of the run to elute.

Is the peak there if you increase the hold time at the end of the gradient?
