Low Pressure Ion Chromatography Column

Discussions about HPLC, CE, TLC, SFC, and other "liquid phase" separation techniques.

Dear all,

I have been informed that there is an ion chromatography column that operates at a much lower back pressure than normal columns of this type. Apparantly, the typical back pressure of a standard IC column is 50-70 bar (although this would obviously depend a bit on the mobile phase used), so I am assuming that this new column operates at pressures below that.

I'm told that this column was introduced at Pittconn in 2002, so I was wondering whether anyone has ever come across it and, if so, from whom can it be purchased?

Thanks for your help.

Steve.

Dear sball

Operating pressure is not the mostly used parameter to differentiate between IC columns.
Anyway Metrohm has a couple of columns with back pressure around 60 bar.

For anions with chemical suppression: Metrosep A Supp 4, Metrosep A Supp 5.

For anions non-suppressed: Metrosep Dual 2, Metrosep Dual 3

For cations: Metrosep C2
